RV Park Map

Who makes printed park maps for campgrounds?

Three kinds of company do this, and only one of them handles the whole thing end to end.

Short answer

Three kinds. Specialist park map companies draw, print, ship, and handle the advertising, so the map is usually free to the park; we are one of these and have been doing it since 1986. Freelance illustrators draw a file for $400 to $1,500 and leave printing and distribution to you. Local printers will print whatever artwork you supply but will not draw it. Before choosing, ask to see real maps they have made and check whether the site numbers are readable at handout size.

What to check before you choose

  • Real examples, not mockups. Ask for maps they printed for actual parks.
  • Whether site numbers are readable at the size a guest holds it.
  • Whether they draw the map or expect you to supply artwork.
  • Whether printing and shipping are included.
  • Who owns the map file afterwards.
  • How reorders work and what they cost.

Why a specialist usually wins

A general designer will make something attractive. A park map has a narrower job: a guest in a truck cab, at dusk, towing, needs to find site 47. That means number size, contrast, and orientation matter more than style. Thirty-nine years of doing only this is mostly thirty-nine years of learning what fails in a truck cab.

What we do

We draw the map from your site list, lay out your rules and camp information, sell the local advertising that pays for it, print in the USA, and ship to your office. Free to the park when the sponsors fill, bought outright if you prefer no ads. Ten parks' guides are on our examples page.

Are there companies that only make campground maps?

Yes, a small number. We are one and have done only this since 1986.

Can a local printer make my park map?

They can print artwork you supply, but most will not draw the map. You would need an illustrator first.

Should I use a general graphic designer?

You can, and it costs $400 to $1,500 for the file. Check that they understand a map is read in a truck cab, not on a screen.

Who owns the map file?

With us, you get a digital copy for your website and emails. Ask any company this before starting.
