How to advertise to RV travelers and campers.
Campers are customers who arrive in town not knowing where anything is. Here is who they are, what they spend, and how a restaurant, a laundromat, or a repair shop gets in front of them.
Who they are
A typical RV owner is 48, married, with a household income around $62,000, and spends three to four weeks a year on the road. They arrive at a park with a full tank and an empty fridge. Campers spend about $86 a day in the area around the park, on food, fuel, supplies, repairs, and things to do. Sixty-nine percent of them chose the park because of what is close to it.
Where they look
Not online, or not first. The first thing every guest does at an RV park is check in, and at check-in the office hands them a printed map with the park rules, the WiFi password, and the local businesses the park recommends. That sheet lives on the dash for the whole stay. When the guest asks the camphost where to eat, the camphost points at it.
What works in an ad
- One offer. A free scoop, ten percent off, a free dessert with dinner. Something the guest can use this week. Most of the ads we print carry a coupon, because it gives a stranger a reason to pick you.
- Your address and hours. They are new in town. Tell them where you are and when you are open.
- A photo of the thing. The plate, the shop, the boat. Not a logo on a white box.
- A QR code to your menu, your booking page, or your map pin.
- Mileage from the park. "Four miles north on Highway 95" beats a street address for someone who does not know the street.
What it costs
An inside spot on a park map is $350 for twelve months, which works out to about a dollar a day. Cover and map sponsor spots are exclusive and cost more. Ninety-eight percent of the businesses that advertise with us renew, and the reason is simple: the ad is handed to every guest, and the host recommends you in person. See the price guide.
How to start
Find the park nearest you and ask what is open in its guide. Our reps call local businesses when a park's map is coming up for print, but you can reserve a spot directly. Send a logo, a photo, and your offer, and we design the ad at no extra charge and send a proof before it prints.
